In addition, in the light of our responsible business approach, we, as Turkish Airlines, adopt the targets set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), of which we are a member, and work devotedly to achieve this target. Adopting the principles of transparency, fairness, responsibility and accountability in all its activities, our Incorporation carries out efforts to ensure that its brand goals and values are adopted by its stakeholders, and will continue to develop good governance practices and develop collaborations in line with its vision of adding value to its stakeholders. While expanding its flight network and operations in line with the increasing demand for air transport, Turkish Airlines works to mitigate the potential negative impacts of its operations in line with the findings of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on climate change. In this context, the Incorporation considers combating climate change as a fundamental priority and integrates it into risk assessment, decision-making and implementation mechanisms for business processes. With Türkiye's ratification of the Paris Agreement and its pledge for net-zero carbon emissions by 2053, we are aligning our strategies with international commitments, global standards, and stakeholder expectations. In this endeavor, Turkish Airlines is committed to contributing to climate change mitigation and aiming to be "Carbon Neutral by 2050." Selected indicators in our 2022 Sustainability Report have been audited by PWC Türkiye at a limited level in accordance with the ISAE 3000 (revised) standard. The Independent Assurance Statement, which includes the list and scope of the assurance indicators, can be accessed on pages 95 and 96 of the Turkish Airlines 2022 Sustainability Report. Our Incorporation's "Greenhouse Gas Statement", prepared on the basis of the period of January 1, 2022 - December 31, 2022, has been verified by the independent organization at "Reasonable Assurance Level" in accordance with the requirements of TS EN ISO 14064-3: 2019 Standard. The Verification Statement is available on page 92 of the Turkish Airlines 2022 Sustainability Report. Turkish Airlines further strengthened its ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, which it has been implementing since 2013 in line with its "Continuous Improvement" principle, by joining the IATA Environmental Assesment (IATA Environmental Assesment) Management System Program, which is specially designed by the International Air Transport Association for airline companies. As a result of the audit carried out in 2021 by an independent third-party organization authorized by IATA, the airline became the first airline to directly receive the IEnvA Program Stage 2 certificate, the highest level certificate of the program. The Incorporation successfully completed the third-party audit in 2023 with zero findings and maintained the right to use the IEnvA Management System Program certificate. In order to reduce the effects of greenhouse gas emissions arising from its operations, Turkish Airlines has its emissions verified within the scope of mandatory and voluntary designs and projects, and fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions are subject to internal control and independent audit processes. In this context, greenhouse gas emissions originating from fuel consumption, Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) implemented by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), European Union Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) and the UK Emissions Trading System (UK-ETS) and verified by audits carried out by authorized third-party independent organizations. Within the scope of National and Regional trade systems, carbon emissions arising from flights are monitored and reported and offset applications are carried out. In addition to the European Union Emissions Trading System (EUETS) and the Swiss Emissions Trading System (CH-ETS), emissions reports were also prepared for the first time in 2021 within the scope of the UK Emissions Trading System (UK-ETS). In this context, emission credits corresponding to emissions verified by a third-party independent institution were purchased and delivered to the authorities of the relevant Emission Trading Systems. The amount of offset emissions under EU ETS and UK ETS in 2023 is explained in Article B23. Turkish Airlines has committed to voluntarily implement the CORSIA, which was implemented by ICAO as a global solution in order to reduce the effects caused by carbon emissions from flight activities, from the pilot phase. Accordingly, carbon emissions from flights in 2019, 2020 and 2021 have been verified by a third-party independent audit firm. In the coming years, it is aimed to offset the emissions that are above the base year emission values with the carbon credits to be obtained from the projects in accordance with the CORSIA.

Turkish Airlines contributes to the development of its suppliers in social, environmental and economic areas in order to ensure sustainability across the value chain. In this framework, the suppliers in the Incorporation are evaluated with the Supplier Evaluation System established by the Directorate of General Purchasing, and the points obtained impact the supplier selection. In the contracts signed with the suppliers, articles regarding the social rights of the employees and the protection of the environment are included. Suppliers are expected to comply with quality standards such as ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, corporate policies such as Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and Supplier Code of Conduct Policy, which are also published on the Incorporation website. Our Incorporation adopts a proactive and innovative approach in prioritizing sustainability and minimizing environmental impacts in procurement processes carried out with suppliers. For this purpose, a Sustainable Procurement Policy has been established. With the goal of collaborating with suppliers to enhance our sustainability performance in the supply chain, Turkish Airlines has published its Supplier Code of Conduct Policy. This policy outlines key issues such as human rights, equality, child labor, illegal employment, modern slavery, human trafficking, occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and the protection of personal data and confidentiality. It serves as a guideline for all suppliers and emphasizes adherence to the principles of the Code of Ethics Manual, which align with national and international standards during operations like passenger and cargo transportation and training activities. In our contracts, we include the Environmental Requirements that our Incorporation expects from its suppliers, and we expect our suppliers to fulfill these requirements. We encourage our suppliers to have ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certificate or an equivalent certificate in order to eliminate, minimize and keep their significant environmental impacts under control. In our contracts, we include the Environmental Requirements that our Incorporation expects from its suppliers, and we expect our suppliers to fulfill these requirements. Thus, we aim to have our environmental policy impact our entire supply chain through our commercial partners. All food is prepared by the expert food engineers at high hygiene standards as per ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System, and we prefer the products of ISO 22000 certificated suppliers in raw material supply. All suppliers are evaluated in detail under the “Supplier Risk Evaluation Procedure”, and thereby, we ensure that accurate suppliers are preferred. Together with the implementation of COVID-19 precautions in our internal processes with sensitivity, we follow the works in this context closely. The Incorporation also expects its suppliers to comply with the commitments set forth in our Environmental Policy and Sustainability Policy, as well as the rules set forth in 6.5 Maintaining a Safe and Secure Workplace in the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Manual.

Given that the aviation industry is closely tied to regulations and often requires more time than other sectors to implement investments and technological developments, Turkish Airlines has defined its timeframes as follows: short term as 0 to 3 years, medium term as 10 years, and longer term as more than 10 years, These definitions consider the timeframe in which factors affecting aviation typically take shapein line with the sector's dynamics. In our analyses, we take into account the long-term forecasts provided by national and international organizations (IATA, ICAO, ACI, Boeing, Airbus, etc.) within the sector. Recognizing that long-term projections may materialize sooner due to rapid technological developments and governmental policies, we diligently monitor long-term trends and adapt them to our medium and short-term objectives as needed. The short, medium and long term targets established by the Incorporation in this direction are disclosed in the CDP Report; short-term targets and their progress are reported annually in our Sustainability Reports.

While the responsibility for Turkish Airlines’ impact on the economy, environment and society rests with the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, a Sustainability Committee comprised of Turkish Airlines Senior Executives, was established in 2021. The Sustainability Committee addresses issues related to the climate change with the Corporate Sustainability Management Department responsible for monitoring and reporting on the activities. Practices endorsed the IPCC and sectoral initiatives, such as efficient energy and emissions management, sustainable biofuel research, fleet modernization and resource efficiency studies throughout the incorporation, form the basis of Turkish Airlines' efforts to combat climate change. In alignment with these efforts, the Incorporation adopts the targets set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and takes decisive actions to mitigate climate change effects, primarily by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its activities. As it expands its flight network and operations to meet the growing demand for air transport, Turkish Airlines also strives to minimize the potential adverse impacts of its operations, following the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) findings. Turkish Airlines' strategies and action plans for combating the climate crisis are detailedl in the "COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE" section of the 2021 Sustainability Report and in the C3.Business Strategy and C4.Targets and performance sections of the 2022 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Report.

The products and services offered by the global airline, Turkish Airlines, to its passengers with a sustainability perspective are as follows: •SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL (SAF) USE: With our country ratifying the Paris Agreement and committing to net zero carbon emissions by 2053, we are revising our strategies in line with global requirements and stakeholder expectations. Recognizing that Sustainable Aviation Fuel plays a key role in reducing carbon emissions caused by the aviation industry, Turkish Airlines continues to support projects that contribute to the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). •CO2MISSION PROGRAM: On August 1, 2022, the "CO2mission" project, a program where passengers can offset the carbon footprint of their flights with carbon credits by purchasing from globally certified, carbon credit generating climate change combating and social development projects, was launched. Within the scope of the project, passengers are offered the opportunity to offset the emissions of all flights they fly not only with Turkish Airlines but also with other airlines. Within the scope of the CO2mission program, passengers are offered 3 different portfolio/package options as "Renewable Energy", "Social Benefit" and "Green World" in order to offset emissions, while our employees' duty flights are covered by our Incorporation. •USE OF BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING: By offering all travel and toy sets without any plastic packaging, we prevent the use of millions of plastics on our flights. We offer headphones and blankets that our passengers may need on flights in packages made of corn starch that comply with the "TS EN 13432" packaging-biodegradable and compostable packaging properties standard. Although it has higher production costs compared to traditional plastic packaging, we prefer these packages because it is a product that will contribute to the prevention of plastic waste generation at all points where we fly and increase the awareness of stakeholders on sustainability issues. •FSC (FOREST MANAGEMENT COUNCIL) CERTIFIED TOYS: FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wooden toys, the concept of which was determined by psychiatrists and leading companies in the sector, and designed by visiting kindergartens and taking into account the preferences of children, are offered to child passengers. Within the scope of this project with the concept of "My Toy is from Nature" aimed to raise awareness in children about protecting nature from an early age. •MOBILE BOARDING PASS APPLICATION: The Mobile Boarding Card application, a digital document that passengers can create and use in QR code format using their mobile devices instead of printed boarding cards, was launched. The application aims to save paper and ensure that passengers board the aircraft in a fast, practical and comfortable manner. •PRESS READER APPLICATION: With the Press Reader application, more than 7,000 newspapers and magazines in more than 60 languages are provided to our passengers digitally. Passengers can access the Press Reader application, which contributes significantly to paper savings, one day before their flights and for an additional 48 hours during flight times. •COMPENSATION CARD APPLICATION: Introduced to strengthen passenger satisfaction, the Compensation Card is a physical compensation card given to passengers whose dissatisfaction is not resolved despite the best efforts of cabin crew. The card, which uses Forest Stewardship Council certified (FSC) materials, has been introduced for business passengers under the name Business Compensation Card; a similar practice is planned to be implemented for economy class in the future. •LOCAL PRODUCT SUPPLY: 79.1% of our passengers are served food sourced from local suppliers, supporting sustainable development throughout the value chain. •NEW TRAVEL SETS WITH REDUCED AMOUNT OF PLASTIC: By making changes that will not affect passenger comfort and satisfaction, the amount of plastic is reduced from the outer packaging to the products inside. In this context, plastic combs and shoehorns were removed from the travel sets in 2019. In the last quarter of 2022, the following practices were implemented: • Toothbrushes in the Hackett Branded ER BC Unisex Travel Set started to be produced from 37% wheat straw and 63% recycled polypropylene, the piping on the eye patch was removed and laser-cut eye patches were used to prevent fabric waste. Plastic ear plugs were removed from use. Thanks to these practices, 80% plastic reduction was achieved in this travel set offered to the passenger. •The plastic outer packaging of 6 out of 8 travel sets were removed from use. •The "Do Not Disturb" labels inside the travel sets were gradually removed from all comfort sets. • OEKO-TEX 100 CERTIFIED BLANKETS: OEKO-TEX 100 certified blankets produced without the use of chemicals are offered to our passengers. • Passenger information regarding safety is provided with safety cards made of 100% recyclable paper. • The electronic headphones we offer to our passengers are sterilized and reused. Those that are broken and cannot be repaired are delivered to our licensed recycling company and iron, plastic and copper raw materials are recovered. In 2022, a concept flight called "Green Class" was realized by applying a special design consisting of leaf patterns to Turkish Airlines' A321 aircraft, which is regularly operated with Sustainable Aviation Fuel. In this concept flight, zero waste principles were adopted, passengers were informed about the sustainability activities being implemented, and new environmental practices specific to the flight were also realized. In 2023, in line with the decision taken by the Sustainability Committee, it was decided to replace the products offered on board the aircraft with sustainable substitute products. Based on this decision, the process was initiated to expand the scope of the work initiated in 2022 with the transformation process to more sustainable products and services on board the aircraft. In this context, in 2023, the Sustainable Practices Sub-Working Committee held regular meetings with the participation of the relevant Incorporation units and evaluated the changes that could be applied to the products and services on board the aircraft. Turkish Airlines aims to expand the sustainable travel experience offered to its passengers to be reflected in every possible product and service on board. • Within the scope of our sustainability and environmental policy, we aim to develop projects in which we use sustainable resources from the design stage to use. In line with this goal, we prioritize issues such as prevention, minimization, disposal and reuse of waste as much as possible in accordance with the Zero Waste Regulation. • Since 2018, we have been using packaging made of compostable raw materials in accordance with TS EN 13342 standards instead of plastic in headphone and blanket packaging. • With the "Play Natural" concept, FSC-certified wood and textile-containing toy sets are served with the aim of raising children's awareness of protecting nature. • We use highly rotating equipment (porcelain, melamine, glass, metalware) instead of disposable products. • Our in-flight products such as toilet paper, garbage bags, compensation cards are produced from FSC-certified paper. • We inform our passengers with security cards printed on polypropylene (PP) raw material and made of 100% recycled materials. • In 2023, we switched to sustainable, environmentally friendly ingredients in the catering kits we offer for passenger comfort. • We use 100% sustainable yarns made from recycled cotton and polyester in the production of slippers and shoe bags we offer to our intercontinental business class passengers. • The slippers we offer to our passengers are GRS (Global Recycling Standard) certified and are made from 100% recycled materials and 80% recycled materials. • We use bags made of recycled plastic to collect waste in the cabin. • The polyethylene density of in-cabin waste collection bags has been reduced. • In 2023, we prioritize sustainability in our projects such as textiles and toy sets. • We use FSC (Forest Management Program) certified paper cups and garbage bags. • PLA-based products (*PLA: It is a vegetable and biodegradable plastic derivative) started to be used instead of plastic identification mixers used in the "Welcome Drink" cups offered to Business Class passengers. • The outer packaging of all wet wipes is made of 70% r-pet recyclable plastic bottles. • We use wooden mixers instead of plastic. • Tomorrow On-Board labeled passenger covers made from recycled yarns are offered to business and economy passengers. • PLANET, our in-flight entertainment system, features content on environment and sustainability under the Green Earth category. • As of the end of 2023, hot sandwich boxes and cutlery packaging used in in-flight catering are FSC-certified and wet wipes are completely environmentally friendly nonwoven 100 Biodegradable (biodegradable) and flushable (degradable with water).

Turkish Airlines, recognizing the environmental impact of air travel and also emphasizing the importance of taking action together in the fight against climate change, has introduced an innovative carbon offset program “CO2mission” in 2022. This program aims to empower customers with knowledge and inspire them to be proactive in reducing their carbon footprint. Within the scope of the CO2mission program; Emissions from all business travels of our employees are offset by Turkish Airlines. Success will be measured by our suppliers’, some of which are our subsidiaries, reducing their own carbon emissions with producing more sustainable products, offering more sustainable solutions&services, consequently reducing the emissions of our value chain. With our commitment to become “Carbon Neutral by 2050”, we have been engaging with our suppliers representing 70% of our total supply chain on climate-related issues. As the main participants of the global sustainability-focused alliances that we are part of, Boeing and Airbus develop, manufacture, and service commercial airplanes, defense products, and space systems, which are among our key suppliers that we make aircraft purchases, will continue to invest in efficiencies that reduce fuel use and carbon emissions as deploying the latest generation of airplanes is one of the most significant contributions to CO2 emissions reduction available over the next decade.

The painting system adopted by Turkish Airlines reduces the frequency of aircraft painting from 3 to 2 times during their 20-year economic lifespan. This reduces the use of chemicals by 33%. Efficient paint application resulted in savings of USD 0.8 million in 2022. Less chromium-containing and environmentally impact-reduced options are used in the primary paint used for painting the aircraft of the Incorporation. Chromium-free products are also preferred in the chemicals used for paint removal and liquid gaskets used in window replacements. Mobile boarding pass and Miles&Smiles digital card applications not only improved environmental performance, but also resulted in cost savings of over USD 2.5 million. Based on the fact that narrow body new generation aircraft consume 15% less fuel and wide body new generation aircraft consume 20% less fuel, it is calculated that an average of USD 310 million in fuel cost savings was achieved during the reporting period. We collect the ideas of our employees and include them in the innovation process through our platform called Ideaport, which enables the discovery and development of new ideas within the company. Since 2008, we have been successfully running a comprehensive fuel efficiency program that will contribute to the collective effort of the aviation industry against climate change. By the end of 2023, with 2008 as our baseline, transportation performance increased by 1,306%, while fuel consumption rose by just 809%. This disparity illustrates the success of our fuel efficiency initiatives: fuel consumed per unit of transportation activity has consistently declined, enhancing our efficiency annually. We continue to reduce our carbon footprint through various fuel saving and aircraft reconfiguration projects that we successfully implement every year. In 2023 alone, these initiatives saved 75,148 tons of fuel and prevented 236,751 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, since 2008, total fuel savings have been 748,496 tons and total greenhouse gas reduction has been 2,357,764 tons. Although aviation fuels have the largest share in total energy consumption, significant energy consumption is also realized in ground operations. The largest part of this consumption is due to the use of electricity and natural gas. For this reason, energy saving practices are carried out in our buildings apart from our flight activities. With our energy efficiency studies at our Incorporation's campuses, 30,728.7 GJ of energy savings were achieved in 2023.

Turkish Airlines has its emissions verified within the scope of mandatory and voluntary designs and projects in order to reduce the effects of greenhouse gas emissions arising from its operations. In addition to the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) and the Swiss Emissions Trading System (CH-ETS), emissions reports were also prepared for the first time in 2021 within the scope of the UK Emissions Trading System (UK-ETS). Within the scope of National and Regional trade systems, carbon emissions arising from flights are monitored and reported and offset applications are carried out. Turkish Airlines has also committed to voluntarily implement the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, which has been implemented by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as a global solution to reduce the effects caused by carbon emissions from flight activities, starting from the pilot phase. Accordingly, carbon emissions from flights in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 have been verified by a third-party independent audit firm. Moving forward, the aim is to offset emissions exceeding baseline year figures with carbon credits from approved projects, in line with CORSIA standards.

Turkish Airlines implements internal carbon pricing to increase low-carbon services, fuel efficiency, sustainable aviation fuel use and to support investment in innovative technologies and R&D projects. To guide its business strategy, Turkish Airlines uses a shadow price mechanism for internal carbon pricing. This mechanism allows Turkish Airlines to better understand the impacts of climate-related risks in its strategic planning and better estimate the financial impact of new technology aircraft, sustainable fuel alternatives and emerging regulations. It also helps our business processes in meeting stakeholder expectations, promoting internal behavior change, identifying and evaluating low carbon opportunities, and supplier relations. After evaluating STEPS, NZE2050, and SDS climate scenarios and their associated calculations, Turkish Airlines has established its internal carbon shadow price range from a minimum of USD 90 to a maximum of USD 140.

An essential aspect of the ethics management process implemented throughout the Incorporation revolves around identifying and preventing behaviors that contradict ethical principles or raise suspicions, with a primary focus on human rights, discrimination, bribery and corruption, conflicts of interest, and anti-competitive practices. Determined by the CEO, the Ethics Committee consists of five representatives, one being the Chairman and the remaining four being members. This committee is responsible for fostering the embrace of ethical values across the Incorporation and their integration into the working culture. It encourages employees to habitually question whether their discourse and conduct align with ethical values in the workplace. The committee also aims to promote an ethical approach parallel to the corporate culture, guide employees when encountering situations that raise suspicions, and assume responsibility for resolving emerging conflicts. The Ethics Committee aims to create a positive, diverse, open and inclusive working environment where employees and others can ask questions, raise concerns about work-related ethical issues, request an investigation or report violations without fear of retaliation. The Ethics Committee listens to the notifications received by the employees in question and takes necessary measures in line with the results obtained after receiving the opinions of the relevant departments. Turkish Airlines has an Ethics Line where Turkish Airlines employees can anonymously, openly and frankly disclose any behavior or suspicious situations that violate our corporate ethical principles, particularly discrimination, bribery and corruption, conflict of interest, anti-competitive practices, and direct their questions.
